Ged Dickersin has worked in the New York film industry
since graduating from Amherst College in 1986.
Starting as an intern, working for Peggy Rajski on
Eight Men Out, he has continued to work his way up,
as a location scout, location manager, production supervisor,
line producer and producer on over 50 feature film productions,
including True Love, State of Grace, Money Train, Billy Bathgate,
Picture Perfect, Bird Cage, The Tic Code, The 24 Hour Woman, It Had
To Be You, Double Whammy, Prison Song, Ghost Dog, People I Know,
Dudley Do-Right, Stateside, Anything Else, Melinda Melinda, Everyday People,
Mona Lisa Smile, The Good Shepard, and Get Rich or Die Tryin.
Ged has had the opportunity to work with some of the great
independent New York directors,
including Jim Jarmusch, John Sayles, Nancy Savoca, Jim McKay, Tom DiCillo,
Woody Allen, Mike Nichols, and Jim Sheridan.
He has also worked on several
of the New York based television shows, including New York Undercover, The Job,
Law & Order SVU, Third Watch, and Chapelle's Show. He was the line producer on
Samsung's award-winning Digital Experience commercial, and has production managed several
other commercials.
Trained at NYU's Graduate Film School, Dickersin produced and directed 5 short
films, including Live Bait, which was a Paramount Pictures Grant winner in 1991.
Since graduating with a Masters Degree from NYU, he has produced 4 feature films
including,
A Reason to Believe (1995), starring Alison Smith, The Energy Specialist
(2000), starring Joshua Dov, Amy Acker, Timm Sharp, and Travis Guba, The Quality of Light
(2002), starring Blythe Danner and Frederic Forrest, and Nightmare (2005), starring Jason
Scott Campbell and Nicole Roderick.
Nightmare was awarded "Best Picture", "Best Director"
and "Best Actress" at the Chicago Horror Film Festival (2005) as well as "Best Actress"
and "Best Actor" at the New York Horror Film Festival (2005).
In 2005, Ged started line producing, and made 3 films that year. First was Matt TauberÕs,
The Architect (2006), starring Anthony Lapaglia, Viola Davis, Sebastian Stan, Hayden
Panettiere, and Isabella Rossellini. The Architect premiered at The Tribeca Film Festival
(2007), where it was picked up and later released by Magnolia Pictures in 2007. Ged was
also the line producer on Broken Sole (2006), starring Bob Dishy and Laila Robins. The
film opened in New York in 2007 and is scheduled for a secondary release in 2008.
Finally, Ged was the line producer on Ira and Abby (2006), starring Jennifer Westfeldt,
Chris Messina, Judith Light, Robert Klein, Frances Conroy, Fred Willard and Jason Alexander.
Ira and Abby received the Audience Award at the LA Film Festival (2006) and was subsequently
picked up and released by Magnolia Pictures in 2007.
In 2006, Ged was the line producer on Fred DurstÕs "The Education of Charlie Banks", starring
Jesse Eisenberg, Jason Ritter, Eva Amuri, and Chris Marquette. The film won the Made in NY Award
at the Tribeca Film Festival (2007) and was distributed by Anchor Bay in 2008.
In 2006/2007, Ged was the co-producer on Amy Redford's The Guitar (2007) starring Saffron
Burrows, Isaach DeBankole, and Paz de la Huerta. The Guitar premiered at the Sundance Film
Festival, 2008, played at the Hamptons International Film Festival (2008) and was released
by Lightning Entertainment in November 2008. Also in 2007, Ged co-produced Richard Ledes'
"The Caller", starring Frank Langella, Elliott Gould, and Laura Harring. ÒThe CallerÓ
premiersed at the Tribeca Film Festival, 2008, and like Charlie Banks, the film won the
Made In NY Award (2008).
In 2008, Ged was the production supervisor on Fox SearchlightÕs Notorious, starring
Angela Bassett, Jamal Woolard, and Anthony Mackey. The film is being released in
January of 2009. In the summer of 2008, Ged line produced Raymond DeFelittaÕs City
Island, starring Andy Garcia, Julianna Maguilies, and Alan Arkin.
